Producing the Limits (PtL) is a methodology for identification of where additional production can be gained in the short term, typically focussing on a period of one to two years, although this can be applied to medium and long term gains depending on the level of capital investment allocated by the operator.

PtL gains are identified through small multi-discipline study teams through the use of simulation software packages that enable integration of the production facility from reservoir through to export facilities. This approach is highly successful as integrated modelling harnesses the individual engineering discipline knowledge into a clear and cost-effective opportunity to exploit the limits of the entire facility, thereby reducing capital expenditure (CAPEX) from multiple smaller single discipline projects.
